HOW HYDRO JETTING WORKS
A Deeper Clean for Stubborn Buildup
Some drain and sewer problems require more than simply breaking through a blockage. Over time, grease, sludge, soap residue, and other deposits can accumulate along the inside of pipes, gradually restricting water flow.
Hydro jetting uses specialized equipment to direct high-pressure water through suitable pipes, loosening and flushing away accumulated debris. Unlike conventional drain snaking, which primarily opens a path through a clog, hydro jetting can clean a larger portion of the pipe's interior.
Because not every plumbing system is suitable for high-pressure cleaning, pipe condition and access should be evaluated before hydro jetting is recommended.
COMMON APPLICATIONS
What Can Hydro Jetting Remove?
Hydro jetting may help address several kinds of buildup, depending on the pipe material and condition.
Grease & Fat Buildup
Cooking grease and fats can accumulate inside drain lines, creating sticky deposits that trap other debris and restrict water flow.
Sludge & Organic Debris
Soap residue, food particles, and other organic materials can collect inside pipes, contributing to slow drainage and recurring blockages.
Sediment & Mineral Deposits
Some deposits may be loosened and flushed from suitable pipes using specialized jetting equipment, depending on the material and severity of the buildup.
THE HYDRO JETTING PROCESS
How Does Hydro Jetting Work?
01
Evaluate the Plumbing System
The technician assesses the affected line, available access points, and pipe condition to determine whether hydro jetting is appropriate. A camera inspection may be recommended when the cause or condition of the pipe is uncertain.
02
Clear Buildup with High-Pressure Water
Specialized equipment delivers controlled water pressure through a jetting nozzle to loosen and flush accumulated grease, sludge, and debris from the pipe's interior.
03
Confirm Drainage & Recommend Next Steps
After cleaning, drainage is checked to evaluate the results. If recurring issues suggest damage or another underlying problem, additional inspection or repair may be recommended.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Hydro Jetting Questions
Is hydro jetting safe for my pipes?
Hydro jetting is generally suitable for pipes in appropriate condition when performed by a trained professional. Older, cracked, weakened, or badly damaged pipes may not tolerate high-pressure cleaning. An assessment helps determine whether it is an appropriate method.
How do I know if I need hydro jetting instead of regular drain cleaning?
Hydro jetting may be considered for recurring blockages, heavy grease, or buildup that conventional cleaning has not adequately resolved. Routine drain cleaning is often sufficient for isolated clogs. The decision depends on the obstruction, its location, and pipe condition.
